Jason Lee Tako is a nationally recognized oil painter whose work has appeared in Plein Air Magazine and Art of the West, earned top awards at the nation's premier wildlife and plein air events, and been included in the C.M. Russell Auction. In 2020 he was named Featured Artist at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition — the world's foremost wildlife art show — and served as a Guest Artist at the 2026 Plein Air Convention and Expo. He brings those same exacting standards to every Oil Painting+ session.
Oil Painting+ is a membership platform for online oil painting workshop by nationally renown, award-winning artist Jason Lee Tako.
In a clear and concise manner, you'll learn practical color theory, composition, brush technique, paint application, angles and consequent values (the essential key to landscape painting), aerial perspective, and much more!

Gold is for the serious student who wants more than a single painting demo. Over a three-month period we develop one idea properly—reference analysis, composition planning, value structure, color-key decisions, and final studio execution.
Gold is opened in limited windows and is often capped to keep it personal.

Platinum is not for dabblers. This is a small, application-based mentorship for artists who are ready to put in steady work, complete homework, and make real progress—with direct accountability.
Platinum includes everything in Silver + Gold, plus:
Four 30-minute 1:1 sessions per month (Zoom)
Unlimited email support for quick guidance between calls (active members)
Homework and a clear plan so you always know what to work on next
Priority attention and an old-school apprenticeship pace: fundamentals, repetition, and honest feedback

The Saturday Live Sessions are typically from 11 AM - 1 PM EST. The Critique & Q/A Sessions are generally on a weekday at 7 PM EST.
Memberships are auto-renewed on a month-by-month basis. You can cancel anytime.
You can be of any skill level, though if you are an absolute beginner it is recommended you gain at least a few months of experience before you join.
The artistic principles taught will apply to any color medium, though the techniques and paintings are all done in oil.
The workshops focus mostly on landscapes, with a slight emphasis on the American West, though there are plenty of Eastern scenes and the occasional animal.
We meet via Zoom. I will send out a link every month to access the live sessions.
You will get a list of materials and colors for each month's painting. My palette and materials remain pretty consistent which allows you to more easily master the techniques and is a bit easier on the budget.
